Summary
The Development Data Manager position oversees the Raiser’s Edge donor system, data integrity, reporting and measuring outcomes of gifts, initiatives, and programs. The incumbent will also be responsible for supporting the execution of the department’s annual development plan as well as providing any donor data that will support strategic initiatives for the department.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Associate’s Degree in Business, Finance or related degree and three plus years’ experience in a role managing a customer relationship management (CRM) database preferred; or any combination of training, education and experience which would provide the required knowledge, abilities and skills to successfully perform in this role.
- Experience utilizing Raiser’s Edge, preferred.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with agency leadership, donors, prospects, volunteers and a variety of community stakeholders.
- Possess strong team-building, multi-tasking, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles, strategies, processes, and available resources.
- Ability to be proficient in all aspects of database entry and administration, including preparation and entry of data, performing queries, exports, program configuration, generating reports, report design, data analysis and trouble shooting.
- Must be experienced with general finance and accounting procedures used in office settings.
- Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills, including familiarity with standard Microsoft Office applications and proficiency in Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge or similar contact data management system.
- Ability to maintain sensitivity to our target population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure donors are acknowledged and recognized to strengthen their financial support through acknowledgement letters, tribute cards and any other recognition as determined for donor stewardship.
- Disseminate strategic communications through multiple mediums in a timely fashion. This will include, but is not limited to gift acknowledgements, invitations, newsletters, fundraising campaign materials, and tribute mailings.
- Prepare mailing lists for all appeals and donor communications.
- Develop, in coordination with Development team, a list of targeted audiences for (online) marketing/stewardship communications.
- Maintain department’s mailing schedule for all external print communications with donors in conjunction with Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Track and prepare reports for donor relations and stewardship activities in the donor database to enhance relationships and increase the likelihood of continued contributions.
- Prepare regular record maintenance queries to ensure records are up-to-date.
- Prepare reports to support general Development Department needs and reconciliation needs with the Finance Department.
- Assist other users in various capacities relating to the database, including but not limited to queries, reports and mailings.
- Organize and process gifts, then enter into Raiser’s Edge.
- Prepare deposits for gifts received and work with Finance as appropriate.
- Respond to donor and staff inquiries by researching and resolving problems related to transactions handled within the department.
- Assist with campaign-related kick-offs and celebration events in coordination with department.
- Assist with campus related events, as assigned.
- Provide donors with necessary documentation to support in-kind gifts, as necessary.
- Support Mail Room staff as necessary.
- Perform all other job duties and responsibilities, as assigned.
Employment Requirements
- Valid driver license with a clean driving record, required.
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent, required.
- Ability to read, write and speak proficiently in English, required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job will supervise Development Specialist.
Travel
This position may spend up to 5% traveling to Development-related functions and meetings.
Schedule
This position works eight (8) hour shifts with the opportunity to take a one hour unpaid break, five days per week. Schedule may be subject to change at any time, with or without notice. Other policies concerning this position are set forth in the current policies and procedures manual.
